Every wood heater requires it’s own flue which allows smoke, unburnt gasses and particles from your wood heater to travel outside of your home.
The manufacturer of the heater determines the diameters of inner/active flue pipes, this must be adhered to ensuring Australian Standard approved for the unit are met.
Flueing beyond walls or ceiling penetrations need to be double cased generally and extend outside the building.
- If the minimum height of a flue system is less than 3m from the highest point of the roof then the flue shall be 600mm above that point.
- If the minimum height of a flue system is further than 3m from the highest point of the roof then the flue shall be 1000mm above roof penetration.
